Aichi-Nagoya, Japan: India celebrated a memorable double podium finish in the men’s javelin throw F46 event at the 2026 Para Asian Games on Monday, with Rinku Hooda winning the gold medal and Ajeet Singh Yadav securing silver.

Rinku delivered the winning performance with a best throw of 65.11 metres, finishing at the top of the standings. Ajeet Singh produced an impressive effort of 65.02 metres to claim the silver medal, missing out on gold by just nine centimetres.

Indonesia’s Saktyono R finished third with a throw of 55.30 metres to take the bronze medal.

The Indian duo’s performances underlined the country’s strength in para-athletics, with both athletes securing the top two positions in a closely contested competition.

India Repeats Gold-Silver Success

The result brought back memories of India’s impressive performance in the same event at the 2022 Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China.

On that occasion, Sundar Singh Gurjar won gold with a world-record throw of 68.60 metres. Rinku Hooda secured silver with 67.08 metres, while Ajeet Singh Yadav took bronze with 63.52 metres, completing an all-Indian podium.

Although India did not repeat the complete podium sweep in 2026, Rinku and Ajeet once again ensured that the gold and silver medals went to the country.

Nishad Kumar Adds Another Gold for India

Earlier on Monday, two-time Paralympic silver medallist Nishad Kumar won gold in the men’s T47 long jump, marking his first international appearance in the discipline.

Nishad secured victory with a best effort of 7.11 metres, delivering another significant result for the Indian contingent at the Games.

India’s medal tally also received a boost from Ravi Karthik Budigina, who won silver in the men’s 100-metre freestyle S13 swimming event.

The performances added to India’s strong start at the 2026 Para Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, highlighting the achievements of the country’s para-athletes across multiple disciplines.
